Cheapest The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane

I really don't know what I can add that other reviewers haven't already said. But I echo the other fantastic reviews for this gem. This is the first book by Kate DiCamillo that I have read. I read it first for myself. Then I read it aloud for my 6 year old daughter - a few chapters a night. She adored this book! She looked forward to our bedtime readings every night.

This story of about learning to love. The main character, a china rabbit named Edward Toulane, is loved by many throughout his journey. Along the way he learns to love through the losses and heartache he suffers.

Many of the negative reviews state that this book is/would be very disturbing for many young readers or for sensative children. My child is both - young and sensative. She handled the content of this book very well. She found it sad at times, but not so much that she was emotionally disturbed by it. She found the ending to be joyful and satisfying - exactly as I think DiCamillo intended.

On a funny note, my husband was present for our nightly readings of this book since I read it aloud in our family room. He seemed uninterested in the story until the 3rd night - when my daughter was summarizing what we had read so far. She gave an incorrect detail from the story, to which he said "Are you sure that's how it happened?" From that point on, he listened and asked questions just as much as she did!Get more detail about The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane.
