Carrie Vaughn's book Kitty and the Midnight Hour was filled with werewolves, vampires... and talk show radio? It turned out to be a wonderful combination, however, as you are pulled into the excitement and charm that is Kitty Norvile - late night radio DJ and werewolf. Wanting to live as normal as possible, she dislikes her werewolf side, or the Wolf that takes over. WIthin the pack, Kitty is the lowest of the low, and the Wolf allows her to be picked on by others. The one normal thing in Kitty's life is her late-night radio show... but that changes when it takes a supernatural twist. Suddenly vampires and werewolves are calling in to talk on the air, and Kitty's new reputation is a threat to her life as well as the entire paranormal world.
The quirky dialogue and supernatural action and adventure is what pulled me into the book. Kitty is a wonderfully funny character, and her dialogue is comedic and well-developed. There is character development taking place with Kitty, and it is extremely satisfying in the end.
